I also am trying to find a way to make this work. Chase has a big, expensive educational trip to Washington DC coming up, but if I can find someone to share hotel expenses with, I may be able to swing it. I did find some reasonable airfare prices, so maybe...

If I do go, I was thinking of flying in on Saturday and using Sunday to blast the area with flyers and such. It is extremely important that the Troubador is totally packed for this show, so we MUST do our job as street teamers and get the word out!!!!

If anyone is seriously thinking about going and would be interested in splitting some costs, let me know.

I know Kim and Stephanie are possibilities and I hope things work out for you girls.

I am still unsure. They want Scott to work out of town that week, so we have a lot to discuss.

If you are absolutely confirmed, please let us know. It would be awesome if flyers can be posted in the area the day before and day of the show, so if you will be there and are interested in doing so, again, please let us know. I assume we will have the flyers available online and those wanting to help post them can print them and have copies made. I need to check with Adelle to confirm she will be designing the flyer.

I'm going and hope to see a lot of you there AGAIN -- man, it's been a long time between shows for us --

Here's a tip about tickets. Download the fax form from the Troubadour website and fax it in. I've never ever had a problem faxing orders to the Troub whereas Ticketmaster is an evil nightmare. Another benefit is the Troub charges just $2 handling per ticket versus the-sky-is-the-limit at TM.

I just got a call back -- my tickets are processed! Yay me!

I just joined the forum recently, although I’ve been a fan for a while. The announcement about the LA show has me super-excited, because there are only so many times you can listen to snippets of the 5 songs on the JK web site and watch the You Tube clips of their performances before a girl needs something more. It must be so great to hear them on the radio!

I’m seriously considering flying in from Chicago for the show. The airfare isn’t too bad, and I found a hotel with relatively reasonable rates that’s walking distance from the Troubadour. I think that my flight would get in just a couple hours before the show, but, if there is anything I can do to help out with promotion, please let me know. It would be great to meet up with some of the other fans from the forum!

Jenn, welcome! Are you talking about the Beverly Terrace? I've seen it -- it's cute. My friend who stayed there liked it (and she is fussy). It is great value for money as hotels in that area tend to be uber pricey.

I was thinking of using Super Shuttle to go back and forth from the airport, and by staying at the Beverly Terrace (rooms are $139/night) I wouldn't have to worry about renting a car to get to the Troubadour.

Since I'm coming alone, it would be great to have some friendly faces to meet up with!

If you have never been to Los Angeles you might want to rent a car. Even for one day. Taking the super shuttle is great, but you don't want to be stuck in your room all the time. Taxies are costly in LA, and if you want to see other places you might want to invest in a car. I don't know how long you are staying in town. I live in the part of WEHO you can walk to everything, but when you get closer to the Westside/Beverly Hills area its not as easy to walk to everything! Just a suggestion!

Thanks for the tips. I wish I could turn this into a vacation, it would be great to escape the Chicago winter for a bit, but, even after changing my flight so I get in a little earlier on Monday afternoon, I have to turn around and head out again on Tuesday. It's going to be a long day, but, if Toby is offering hugs, then I'm sure it will be well worth it.:)

I was running some errands on Michigan Avenue yesterday and walked by this huge group of tourists that each had on a matching scarf. I had to do a double-take, because the symbol on the scarf looked familiar to me, and then I figured it out. They were from Wales and the scarves were all printed with the Welsh flag. Of course I only know this because of Toby’s tattoo! I took it as a sign that playing hooky from work for two days and flying half-way across the country to see my favorite band was definitely the right decision. That’s not too much of a stretch, is it? And, Toby, thanks for the geography lesson!

It's unreal and amazing...and what is really weird is that when I read this thread I think I am more excited for the US show than for my own. It seems like everyone has been waiting for so long.....The anticipation is SO exciting!

OK girls, I got word from Harvey...He does want us to distribute flyers for the show. To help with costs, he has asked Adelle to put 2 flyers on one page. He then wants us to print them, in black and white, on colored paper. Then, they can be cut in half and distributed.

Since ink is expensvie, the best thing, in my opinion, is to copy 1 from your computer and then take it somewhere to have copies made. This is what I did last time, and it didn't cost much at all, and doing it on colored paper was only slightly more. The black and white flyer will be posted as soon as Adelle puts on the finishing touches.

Anna, will this work for you??? It would be awesome if you could hand flyers out this weekend as we discussed.

More reliable, just be cautious about the amount of data transfer if the file is large, which the poster-sized one might be if at a higher DPI. There was always a concern about videos and large-res images and exceeding the amount of monthly data transfer for the server. I can see about limits in other services that are not photobucket if this becomes an issue, to help.

Glad you are doing a B&W version, I was about to offer before I read through the whole thread, since red backgrounds and lettering tend to print out horribly in B&W if not converted to B&W and tweaked. :) Which I'm sure you know from all the Oz gigs, Adelle.

Girls, Adelle now has the flyer ready and it is gorgeous!!! It is to be printed on A4 paper, which I believe is standard 8x11. Again, if you can print one and then have it copied on colored paper, it will make the flyers more noticeable. Also, I know it is a given, but don't forget to cut them in half before distributing, to get the most bang for your buck. Let me know if anyone has questions...Thanks!!! :)

As for the flyers, please do check back. I figure it is best to make plans after everyone knows for sure when and where they will be, rather than do it know and have to change it and someone potentially miss the change.

Also, at some point, we will need to exchange cell numbers so we can communicate once we get to LA. If you are always gonna be in a group, just one number for that group will be all that is needed. Are these like the longest days ever or what?!?! They seem to just drag on and on and on and on...


For those who are interested...My flight is set to land at LAX at 12:45 p.m. Sunday. I fly out on Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. I will probably try to catch a quick nap Sunday after checking in at the Ramada, as I will have to be at the airport between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning, here in Raleigh, to catch my flight out.

What I am thinking right now, is that those of us who will be there can meet Sunday evening, do some flyers, grab dinner, and let whatever happens happen. We will nail down a time later.

If you don't receive my cell # in the next few days and would like to have it, let me know. I am programming everyone's into my phone and trying to send that person mine as I go along.

Anna, no there won't be any handouts of any material required at the Troubadour show. The main work involves handouts of flyers before the show, directing people to the show. See Joyce about that, she has it all covered.

Hey Anna!!! Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I know Adelle answered your question, I just thought I would elaborate...

In the past, Juke promo merch was passed out at shows mainly when the boys were a support act and our mission was to get their name out there and people to their websites. For this show, the boys are headlining and the people are there to see them, so it is likely they know about Juke Kartel and have all their info.

As for flyers, we plan to distribute them Sunday evening and again on Monday morning/afternoon. We are also planning to get together for dinner Sunday evening and possibly Monday before the show, but we will just have to see how things flow on Monday. I will be spending 7-8 hours on an airplane on Sunday, so I may need to take a few to rest before we venture out. I will PM you my cell number and you can reply with yours so we can keep in touch once I am in LA and away from the computer.

A reminder about flyers...Harvey prefers we print them in black and white, on colored paper...the brighter the better, I would think. Also, don't forget, when you are deciding how many you need, you have 2 flyers/page. :)
