And then the news the boys shot to number 9 with a bullet on the ARiA singles charts, with physical sales! HELL YEAH!

It was clear as crystal and the screaming was hilarious!! My ear was ringing for a little while after the call but it was worth it! I hope I hear Long Way and Firesign live. Long Way sounded gorgeous!! It made me cry :whist:

Chapter 3 of the road trip finds us at The Ruby Lounge in Belgrave, it was a tiny little venue but as the show began the true meaning of "size doesnt matter" made itself known with such a force that I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this was the best JK show I've been too!!!!!!

Stone Parade (I think that was their name :blush:) and Rock City were great and definitely got everyone into a rocking mood but once they left the stage the atmosphere began to crackle with antcipation. People almost ran to the stage (lol and I'm not just talking about the road trippers :gigg:).

The boys took to the stage and got their instruments in hand (bahahaha I meant the musical kind ladies) and we were so close that if they farted we would have heard them :scared:

The lights dimmed and there was one very noticable exclusion from the stage.... Where was Mr Rand??? The music started and the crowd as one turned at the sound of Toby's voice. Where was he I hear you ask.... he was doing a coyote ugly and was standing atop the bar.............. frikkin awesome entrance.

They opened with Whatcha Gonna Do and spent the next 1 and half hours cracking jokes and singing and drinking. Todd was on fire and at one point Toby said that fuck singing it was comedy hour lol

They were all in fantastic spirits and into the spirits lol Jack being the drink of choice. There were many many crowd participation moments and I got to star in a couple myself and I apologise to those there if I ruined My Baby for you with my da da da da's bahahahaha

So of the highlights:

Hearing a new JK song "On Fire" it was fan-frikkin-tastic!!!!

The boys announcing that they hit actual sales at number 9 on the aria charts and 15 on the oz music charts (I hope I remembered that correctly)

Toby singing Long way acoustic style

Lenny playing the harmonica during Throw it away. It was awesome! Todd you need to learn harmonica and they might give you your very own mic :gigg:

Seriously it was a terrific night and everyone had a terrific time and we got a great work out dancing our arse's off. The boys were beautiful and amazing. I loved that they were just having fun last night and the place was small so it was very intimate but there were alot of people for the venue size. Signings afterwards wasn't as chaotic as Frankston so this time I went through and had a group pic with them for the fun of it.

I received the text from Anita about the boys being in the charts so I showed the boys the message as they had no idea about it...loved seeing their faces light up as they read the text.

They certainly were very comedic last night...
I 2nd that on it being one of the best gigs ..not that any of them have been bad but the boys seemed very relaxed last night & they were having a ball.
Crowd participation was at an all time high with even Adelle & I getting to sing along to...I hope no-one took a pic of that...:blush:

I love the boys for making Mands first actual meeting with them memorable for her:wub:

Aww sorry I missed all the "biting" action Mands. We had to go as everyone had to work (except me) this morning (but everyone was late to work)

I am not good at reviews but as Fee, said it was a Brilliant night and the boys Rocked. I was suprised at how small the venue was too. Very intimate as Paris mentioned.

I was at the Bar when they started and wondered what Toby was doing behind the bar, I last minute drink maybe? I started to make my way to the stage and join all the ST girls when I saw Toby ontop of the bar! Was a Fantastic sight!

My friend Jodi's partner, Andrew was a JK virgin and he was REALLY impressed with them. He said Toby's voice was great!

What a night to find out were the boys were on the Charts!

Was great to finally meet you Mands and get to talk you a little more Bec and Fee! Hope the rest of your Road Trip lives up to last night (I'm sure it will)

Welcome Crissty...enjoy your time here. We are all a friendly bunch and a few of us will be at the Ballarat gig including a Brissie girl (sophiamum) who's coming down for a couple of Jk shows so it'll be great to meet you Friday night...should be a great one.

Stone Parade are great. I saw them in Sydney when they supported JK at The Gaelic and I was very impressed. I should remember to buy their EP on Friday...and a few JK singles. lol.

Alrighty...I think I might be composed enough to write this...I think...but I send out a warning...this is going to be LLLOONNNGGG.

So I went into yesterdays gig kinda nervous a bit anxious and ridiculously excited. It was the night I was to drag along 10 JK virgins, meet all you lovely people (my main mission was to not leave until I had tracked down Adelle) and yes...finally...after over 3 years... pull off my bock bock shoes and meet the boys! Eek!

I was SO excited to meet all the girls. It was so great to see all your excited faces in the flesh, and experience firsthand the amazing energy that you all bring. Fee, I’m sorry if I pounced on you but I was so happy to finally recognise you I just couldn’t help myself! Same goes for you Dell. I’m sorry if I freaked you out, or knocked out half the people around you, but I was soooo excited to meet you. Thanks for looking out for me Paris, you really are such a sweetie. I’m so happy we finally got to spend some time together...and you were the first person to get me to meet one of the boys, so extra brownie points for you hehe! Denise I effing love you and you know why. There was no reason for you to go so far out of your way for me (although I’m sure you didn’t mind all the backstage trips :flirt:) and again, you really have no idea how much I appreciate it all. And to everyone else (I don’t want to mention all the names out of fear I’ll leave someone out) thank you so much for making the night so amazing. You are all such beautiful and welcoming people. It makes me feel all squishy inside :hug:.

Ok...so onto the actual performances...

Both Stoneparade and Rock City did a great job at pumping the crowd up (although it was surprisingly slim pickings until quite late). They are also just great people who were so accommodating to their fans and were so friendly to talk to...especially after a few too many shots. Lee is such a sweetie...Oh and Bec...you getting naked soon??? :gigg:

But JK were the reason why we were all there and my god they were AMAZING! I was a bit worried to begin with about how small the stage was, but I was soon grinning from ear to ear when I turned around to see Toby strutting his stuff all over the bar. I’m sorry if I deafened anyone by my shriek when I noticed him but what a rock star entrance! And what proof that there is nothing that can hinder these boys. They are entertainers to the core (not THAT core Shaz) and were nothing but perfection.

They rocked out their big hits, with the crowd going off during favourites like December, Save Me, My Baby and Throw it Away. I nearly collapsed when Toby pulled out the acoustic guitar and sang the original version of Long Way. It is by far my favourite song and it’s so rare that you get to hear it that it was just a beautiful moment. You could hear a pin drop. It was also great to see the boys having so much fun with each other. Todd is such a crack up. I vote for him having his own microphone just so he can crack jokes all night.

Now onto the juicy part :) (I told you it was long)...

So Denise had promised me some sort of surprise for my first time meeting the boys, to which a million different thoughts (some better than others) ran through my head. I eventually found out she had taken a small vampire joke that we have about me being upset that the boys don’t bite and well...ran with it all the way to the boys themselves! It took a bit to come into fruition but it meant I got to spend more time with them. I met Tommy again thanks to Paris (although he thought I was Anita, so...it was strange hehe) but he’s too cute and so welcoming. I then met Todd downstairs and he gave me the BIGGEST grin I have ever seen in my life. It was the most reassuring smile. Just gorgeous. I then met Toby upstairs with Dell (yes Addy you witnessed our first ever meeting!) and couldn’t help but laugh when she introduced us and his eyes lit up, he got the biggest grin on his face and said “Oh my god Mands, I talk to you all the time on Facebook but beyond that you’re such a little mystery to me,” before promptly being dragged away by some random chick...bitch? YES! Haha!

The boys are such good sports though. The Tommy/Todd sandwich was nice and cosy, with Todd being so enthusiastic he literally nearly ripped my earring out of my ear...there might have been a bit of humping as well :gigg:. He then proceeded to do every one of his best impersonations of a vampire. We also got to chat a bit about really random things like music and my clothes...what? Haha. He is such a sweetie. I never stopped laughing while I was with him :wub:.

Dale and Jay were so great as well. I couldn’t believe how eager they both were to jump into the pics. Jay was adorable when I made him blush :gigg:. We embarrassed the hell out of him but he took it like a pro.

Instead of leaving when security asked Denise dragged me downstairs to see Toby (although those “really not gay” guys from the Franga gig beat us to it. Lenny got us all laughing and Toby panicking about it). Now...Toby can TALK! My God! He’s worse than a chick (we did tell him that too). He’d look at me and go “oh I need my photo with Mands,” then get caught up in a conversation with someone. He really does like to give everyone his full attention. I wasn’t complaining though. Just being there was so exciting and it meant I got to say a proper goodbye to some of the girls. Finally the time came and I jumped in beside him for a nice vampire pose and...well...literally felt teeth. We did a couple of pics but apparently he wasn’t happy with his performance cos the next thing I know he’s saying “Nuh, come here, I’m going to go in really hard”...and dear god he did. My eyes rolled so far back into my head :swoon:! At the end he smiled and said “Yeah that’ll be a nice hickey for you tomorrow.” Fuck he’s gorgeous. We took a last pic (I think the only normal one I’d had all night) then hugged, kissed and said goodnight.

I ran back upstairs with the biggest grin on my face (getting death stares from security as I did), gave Dale a final goodbye and said goodnight to one of the greatest nights of my life

Awesome pictures!! I in all the excitement of getting out of the house without the kids totally forgot my camera hehe! I was on the other side of the room to you guys I think, up on the back raised bit kind of between the bar where toby started and the audio mixing bit.

Ive spent the morning watching jktv on youtube, my boys just kept looking at me like a loony cause i was laughing my head off for most of it :)

So where is everyone from?? Im in Garfield which is just over an hour out of Melb towards gippsland, teensy town with a few hundred people in it, nice and quiet though which is nice!
The only downside is that most venues are MILES away :(
At least with JK being Melb boys Ill be able to see them more, the other two bands i really love (stone parade and small mercies) are in syd and qld..too far away to see them regularly :(

Anyway id better dash, gotta get all my chores done so that I can have another leave pass and make it to Ballarat lol

Hope everyone handled the heat here ok today, it was a scorcher!!
I am definitely going to the Ballarat gig, I grew up there and my best friend still lives there..so im using it as an extra excuse toget up there and spend some time with her!

I love the pic of you gals at the Rubys gig, is there any chance anyone could name whose who for me?? Sorry to be a pain, itd just make it nicer to walk up and introduce myself to the right person lol!

I dont have any pics of me on the computer as I just cleared out the hardrive..but if anyone wanted to add me to msn (crissty_au@hotmail.com.au) or facebook (I should come up if you search for Crissty Sherwood Rintoule) there are some on there incase anyone can spot me in the crowds at gigs!

The instores? Going on what the NSW girls have said...the boys play 3 songs acoustic, then theres the chance to have things signed and take pics (like at Ruby's). It's all about promoting December and getting people to buy the single and become more aware of the band.

thanks for the help girls and i do think me and my cuz and possibly her boyfriend would either get a cab, walk or train dunno havent got the answer from her yet, and i prob have already mention the closer the better cause it mean we dont have to leave before its finished and plus she wants to meet tommy.

not saying it will happen but if we do have to leave before they finish i could be asking a favor. but i wont ask just incase it doesnt happen. i cant wait cause i finally get to do something exciting for my bday well im doing it early so yer.

Walking wouldn't be a good idea...richmond is too far to walk but close enough to cab or tram it. There should be transportation straight from where you're staying in Richmond/Hawthorn to the espy. It's very simple.
