Another JK gig review from ME!!!!
Mel and I had arranged to stay at the same hotel just down the road from the shark bar so the excitment was already there before we even left. Managed to catch a glimpse at some of the pics from the previous night and they are awesome. Although there is one of toby using me as a table top for and autograph....
Turned up to the shark bar to hear a familiar sound doing sound checks. Save me was blaring onto the beach and it was such a wonderful feeling. In the door just after 8 to find the boys leaving. All looking very casual and still heartbreaking gorgeous and sweet.
Checked out a mag while waiting for the bands to play and low and behold there was JK staring out at me. That mag didnt stay at the bar teehee.
Cant remember the name of the opening act but it did not get much attention. Stoneparade were on as the second act and they are a great warmup for the boys. 10:30 hit us and the magic happened yet again. Tobys voice was perfect and the guys looked like they were having a lot of fun on the very bouncy and small stage. Todd was flicking his hair with gusto. Tommy was pushing dreads out of his face all night. Jay did a drum solo that left everyone screaming for more and the beautiful Dale played like a genuine rockstar. Unfortunately his mic was playing up towards the end so he and tommy shared it for Save me which was amazing (as it always is). There was not a huge crowd but everyone seemed to love the boys. Signings were happening left right and centre at the end of the night (including as I got shown, a boob signed by toby) People just wanted to spend time with the band and security had a really hard time getting us all out.
Overall, I have had an amazing experience seeing JK three times in just over a week. I thought I would be a little sick of the music by the end of it, yet, playing save me this morning, brought back soooo many fantastic memories not only of the band but of the wonderful people that I met at the gigs. Thank you to Mel and Claire for your help on the nights, it was appreciated by everyone and I hope that Juke Kartel are not strangers to Brisbane. But I also hope they get there butts over to Perth soon!
Thank you, Nita. I'll never tire of reading people's JK experiences. :)
Awww great pics Anita! I love the ones of Dale :)

Trying to scan in the article at the moment but my scanners not talking to me. It was just advertising the gigs coming up but seeing the pic made my heart flutter a little.
Ok, so Thursday night I was at the Zoo watching the boys (instead of being at a staff meeting.....heee eheee heeee), then had a "sick" day Friday, so that I could drive from the Sunshine Coast down to the Gold Coast...a trip that normally takes me no more than an hour to do, ended up taking me 3!!! OMG!!! the traffic and the fact that i had to stop on the way to pick up my cousin and a new memory card for my camera!!!
After the GPS dying on us on the way down, three servos later we finally find the hotel where we were going to be staying the night.
My cousin and I settled into the room, then decided to go for a walk down to coles to rustle up some food, when I saw Glenn doing the same thing for the Juke....knew then that they had to be close by. On the way back to our room we went for a slight detour past the Shark bar, just so we knew where we were going to go later on in the night.
My cousin and I got to the Shark bar jus after 7, we got talking to the bouncer at the door and he informed us that we were in for a good night. After that we went and sat at the bar down stairs, listening to the sound checkS!!
At 8 the doors opened, we were amongst one of the first ones to go inside. We found a table with some really strange bar stools and sat there talking and drinking (well me on the soft drink and water), then Tommy walks up to me grabs my hand and says "Thanks" still not 100% sure what he meant, but i just put it down to the fact that I had made it to both gigs a night apart....but i really didnt care.
The first support band came up....not much of a reaction there, then the stone parade came out (OMG!! AMAZING guys!!! Another home grown band!!!) then FINALLY Juke Kartel.... got some more photos of this gig (yep they are comming i promise!!!) I swear that there is one blonde chick on the Gold Coast that has a nice imprint of my elbow in the back of her head. Everytime i went to take a photo of Todd, shed get her head or elbow or hand in the way....
I dont know if it was me or what, but the crowd at the Shark didn't seem to be as into the bands as the crowd at the zoo at the previous night, but i really dont care....the boys were on fire!!!
Jay's little drum solo rocked the joint!!! Dale's Highway to hell had EVERYONE up on their feet!!
Nothing beats seeing Todd and Tommy play their hardest, and hearing the crooning of Toby's voice.
Once girls night was made, when Toby jumped down off of the tiny little stage and he went over and kissed her on the hand. She had cerebal palsy and was confined to a wheel chair. Just the look on her face said it all!!
Had the play list litterally ripped outta my hand by the same blonde as I had problems with....oh well....she can have it!!
Back at the table with my cousin and some random person she got talking to, I was looking through my many photos, when a smiling and hell sweaty Tommy came and sat down at our table next to me....awwww.....then even before i had a chance to take a breath he was whisked away for photos, autographs and what not.
We had an amazing night and would do it all again....
Must say, never seen a band, like Juke, perform on such a small and bouncy stage!!
Thanks Mel for your GREAT review. Look forward to your pics!!
Im hoping some of the pics will be here over the weekend and others on facebook at the same time!!
*fingers crossed*

She sounds CRAZY! lol. There is always 1 of those ppl at EVERY show. At the single launch there was this chick who was so persistent in trying to get me out of the way so she could get closer to the stage cos I was at the very front. I thought...there is nowhere else for me to go but ON the stage or in Paris and Denise's laps!
At least she was enthusiastic about the band :gigg:. Hope you still got some great shots :) Sounds like it was an amazing show!
Awesome review Mel..
I loved reading it.
And I am green with envy that you caught two shows!

Having done two shows in a row, its such an awesome thing to do. Your so excited and nervous on the first night and then on the second, all you want to do is dance around like an idiot and party, well at least thats what I wanted to do....:gigg:

I say nita, it might have done with how much ya had to drink!!! lol
It was awesome. i really didnt think i was going to be able to make the second show, but as always my lovely cousin came to the rescue!! But i still think though that the first show was better than the second, mainly cause i feel at the second show that the crowd didnt really warm to any of the acts, where at the first, once the opening act was done, the crowd went wild for the second and third acts!!
This year might be a different story.... but we shall see how it goes!!
Fantastic reviews and photos!!! Thank you cant wait for tomorrow for the Solar Festival.
