Another quickie from me.

Turned up to the zoo way too early only to get a pleasant surprise of hearing the boys soundcheck from our carpark. All the windows were open and the valley got an amazing experience!

Not a huge crowd at the zoo but everyone was very excited to see JK come on stage. Starting with december, they were amazing. Very clear, very good and absolutley perfect . Throw it away gave some lucky audience members a surprise, toby went for a walk into the crowd and ended up singing with my brother! Throughout the whole night I had the absolute pleasure of being with Mel,my good friend Nicole and Claire for her first JK experience. The smile on everyones faces was enormous and it kept on after the gig which ended in Save me and everyone screaming for more.

All the band came out for autographs, Toby was incredibly patient with everyone signing everything and occasionally enlisting me as a table! We also managed to grab a group shot with the Mel, Claire and I and all the band which I really thank the guys for alot.

Overall, fantastic night in a relaxed atmosphere with lots of people talking about the next night for another dose of JK.

I didnt do pics on the night, Mel may be able to post some for us.

Wonderful to hear Ms table, I mean Nita ;) Thank you.

I was lucky enough to get a phone call for this show and I could hear the crowd going stupid at the end of the 4 songs I was treated to. I could hear Toby so clearly and my kids were gobsmacked when I told them that crazy guitarist going off was Dale hee

I don't know what I would do if I didn't get to at least experience JK through all the Aussie STers reviews and pictures. It means more than you realize. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd293/MrsRoryWeasley/Other/Smilies/Millan%20Smilies/stars4u.gif

I disagree with her completely in her criticisms *surprise*

Juke don't "try their arm at moody ballads" they intrinsically and innately swoon the crowd with them with no effort on their part. JK's ballads and slow harmonies are so uniquely Juke.....who's this Creed she speaks of?? Hehe

haha! maybe u could give her some review tips Adelle. u always write brilliant ones :)

"and a vocalist who walks that fine line between cockiness and chauvinistic arrogance" after this...I really prefer the creed part...
I can't agree or disagree with her criticisms cuz I never saw JK live and I just know a few old songs that I found on internet...
but her review It's completely different what I've been reading about JK...

and if makes me feel confused? ...a lil bit, maybe.

Yeah Taty, you can only make your observations based on personal experience. All I can suggest is that this woman is of the minority if you look at it based on positive and negative feedback for JK.

I can understand her perception of Toby looking cocky, to me he's more dynamic and dominant....powerful...not unlike Mick Jagger but I don't confuse the two. Where she comes up with chauvinism is beyond me. I think she needs to look up the meaning of the term before branding people with such nonsense. Toby loves the female audience, he doesn't disrespect, he entertains.

I would have to agree with you Adelle, I didnt see a cocky toby that night, it was more a confident, lets have fun and play with everyone Toby. He was so patient with all the females wanting signatures and hugs and pics after the gig I didnt see any sign of chauvinism at all. He was also great with the males (they few that were actually there) and treated them great as well.

I haven't read the interview yet..about to now but I have met Toby on quite a few occasions now & there is no hint of chauvinism at all..
He makes you feel like your the only person in the room when he's talking to you & that goes for guys too...
I wouldn't call his stage presence cocky either.... He's a great entertainer & he knows how to get the crowd involved..
Maybe I have rose coloured glasses where Toby's concerned but I doubt it..
He could have let the attention go to his head but I really don't see that.... he just seems like a genuine nice guy who appreciates his fans but he is also a bit of a larikin too....loves a laugh & shit stir...

Exactly, Denise. One thing that strikes me with Toby is his non-judgementalism. He's so tolerant of everyone around him, even when he's on the brink of exhaustion. He actually needs his mates to step in and say enough because he just won't walk away from his fans. He doesn't even like the term fans....would rather call us friends.

He has the most beautiful nature...along with his JK bros. For someone to call him a chauvinist simply screams that they haven't met the man before.

Chauvinist? Most Certainly NOT. Even cocky? NO! As mentioned earlier, Toby is a confident entertainer who knows how to work the crowd. He is always so obliging to his fans/friends and even taking the time to chat to my 7 year old son (as most of you know) Denise, you mentioned Rose coloured Glasses, as you said "probably not" you are right! I have had friends come to One gig only and be thoroughly blown away by Toby and the all the guys!!

BTW, I never take the words of "reviewers" to heart, (unless it is Adelle doing a review On Jk!) whether it be on a Movie, Restaurant, Hotel or a Band. Everyone's view is That only "thier view" and hopefully peeps don't take this "Kylie's" words too seriously... (but still gobsmacked and totally disagree with Chauvist and Cocky!)

I agree with all of you girls about Toby and JK, obviously that is why we are all here. I have been lucky enough to see them 3 times, once in a very intimate setting and Toby was not cocky or chauvinistic. He is a fantastic showman...all of them are. Sometimes you don't know who to watch. But, I think we have to take what a "reviewer" says with a grain of salt. Remember, they are trying to gain readers. They have to be edgy or nobody would read their reviews...just like bloggers.

Actually, maybe Toby is a little cocky on stage...I like cocky. ;)

you only have to speak to Toby to know he is a genuine guy.....
I don't know any other people in his position who on your 2nd meeting knows you by name & makes you feel special ( even if some other crazy lady pushes you out of the way to get her Toby time..) LMAO.......( kidding Nikki :gigg:)
Even the other JK boys didn't know me on the 2nd meeting.... but I am pleased to say they do now...lol
They know I'm the crazy picture taker.... :)

Ok, sorry one and all that ive been absent for the past little bit...having massive computer hassles....BUT finally got it all sorted (meant i had to go and buy a new laptop)
Ive managed to put up some pics on my facebook page....still got MORE MORE MORE to add!!!

Hmmm the zoo....lets see.... an amazing night. Didnt think much of the first support band, the second was AWESOME, but even as small as the crowd was had NEVER heard so few people go so nuts for such a great band!!
I took my friend Michelle along (her first time hearing Juke, so she didnt really know what she was getting herself into) Up front, close and personal....great view.... from the moment the first note was struck my heart started pounding....cant remember the set fully now but I know December started, with sublime truth in there somewhere, my baby, sleeptalker......man, my mind has just gone into over drive....the finale was Save me....so many people were sigining along the WHOLE night....just wasnt Anita and I!!
After the gig Michelle and I went down stairs abit and started handing out a few of the postcards that we got off of Anita, but soon got told we had to move from our spot....
It was great to catch up with the boys after the gig..... i really dont know how they could be so patient with so many requests for photos, autographs and people just wanting a chat!!
Give me a few more days and I'll have the photos up some here and more on facebook.
I really should have put up the review while it was still running round in my head....lesson learnt for next time!!

Yes, he does have a memory like an elephant. Which is a little scary if you ask me. LOL They all make you feel like a friend and not a crazy street team/fan! :uhoh:

Thanks for another great review Mel!

Ooopss!

I have just jumped back into this thread and read the last page and a half...

I didn't realise my link to the review caused such a stir. I actually thought it was quite a good review from someone completely objective..? Obviously she is not a ballad lover (that's cool with me, neither am I..You either get them or you don't..)and I just kind of assumed the cockiness/ arrogance line meant that she thought Toby was hot and wanted to jump him...???
LOL!!
Perhaps I should have lifted my rose coloured glasses when I was reading it?

Hehe. I was in the same frame of mind as you when I read it. Better to turn everything into a positive I say :)
