View Full Version : Nov 5, 2008: Juke w/Seether at Metro in Sydney

OK... Let me see how I go.
Firstly, no photos. Sorry. The Metro had signs everywhere, and security walking the queue to say no photos, not even from mobile phones....Security were right in front of us and jumoed as soon as a mobile phone appeared. I had been waiting far too long for this to get kicked out for taking a photo...... Anyway, I had THE most awesome night. It was a long wait to finally see JK perform again. Last show I saw was March 2007. They were completely amazing then, and I didn't think they could impove on perfection, but last night they proved that they could. Considering the crowd were far from being hugely responsive, they absolutely rocked it, which just goes to show how incredible they are live.
OK. So I joined the queue alone and started chatting to a few people in line. Of course the conversation turned to JK, and the girl in front of me had already sussed out their myspace page and was pretty impressed with the music. yay!
10 mins later, Donna and her friends joined me, so finally I felt like not such a loser.
We made our way to stage right, and surprisingly hit the second and third row. I then experienced the longest 45 minutes in the history of the universe and did a few quick deals with the nice people around us to let us just that little bit closer to the front.....
Finally 8.15, and the magic happened. Like I said they put on the most amazing show. I had already told Donna I would be thrashing around far less than she had witnessed at the RSSN show, as I was as sober as a judge..but you just can't help but jump and thrash your head around can you? :)
Toby was doing a fantastic job of trying to get the crowd involved as usual, and by the end of the set there were definitely pockets of the crowd leaping off the floor.
Dale was amazing as always, and sang an amazing Highway to Hell. Jay was jumping, Tommy was rocking and looking gorgeous and Todd, I love to watch the most as he disappears into his own Rock God world...
Set list was... (and any mistakes, I blame Tommy who checked it for me, but it really feels like there is something missing)

Everyone around us really liked them and had positive things to say. There were quite a few CDs being sold immediately after they left the stage which has to be a good thing.
We handed out cards at the end of the night and I definitely had more people backtracking to collect them than I had refusals. I mentioned to a few enthusiastic groups of people that they are back in Sydney on the 21st and they seemed to be making their plans as they continued on their way!
The cards looked fantastic Adelle, although I did have one guy tell me "that I should have made them round because someone was using them as frisbee missiles and they could take someone's eye out!"
Huge thanks to Tommy Toby Jay Dale and Todd who all took so much time out of their busy night to have photos, sign CDs and chat to us and be all round nice guys. Major thanks to Harvey for letting us be too scared to approach the band "twats" (Ha Shazza!!!) and for sending them our way instead!
and lastly thanks to the gorgeous Donna for being so much fun to hang out with. Your friends were lovely, and if it wasn't for you girls I would have been the total no friends "twat" from the start of the night until the end...not to mention walking through the manky part of Sydney to get to the car park alone, in which case I may never have made it home safely to write this review.
Great review Booyah. I'm glad you decided to put the camera away and not risk getting tossed out. I'm sure you'll get to take some pics at the next Sydney show.
Yay Gemma...I'm sooooo rapt you got to see them...you posted a wonderful review. I can't wait for the 21st. Glad to see you working your magic and sweet talking a few people into letting you get closer to the stage. lol.
Can't wait to hear from Donna as well. Knowing that she can't be at the 21st gig, I'm happy she was there last night.

Dale was brilliant. When I told him that after the show he said he wasn't at 100%. Holy crap I thought..I can't imagine it being any better..
Last night had me even more pumped for the 21st. Look out!!!! I am so excited!
And Anita, if tonight is even half as good as last night you will have an absolute blast!

Well I really cant expand on what Gemma has said..
It was an awesome night & I am so glad I got to go & see the boys perform....unfortunatley I still cant jump & thrash around like Gemma :gigg: but I had my arms pumping.
My friends who came with me would go see them again..one of them cant go to the 21st gig cause she is on the cruise with me...so I just need to convince the other one. They cant get over how nice the guys are, & how apprecitive they are of us handing the cards out & coming to support them..and the fact that Toby remembered about my foot.
I just have to say I wish I had my camera ready when Dale & Toby started singing Oh Donna.
Enjoy them everyone & for those of you who are allowed to take pic at there gigs PLEASE do.
