Aww thats lovely
Their good hearts just keep giving and giving and I love them more as each day passes!!!
Aww that's so sweet
Wow. This is great. Breast cancer is a cause very dear to my heart and I would love to participate in this. Its really heart warming to see a rock band taking part in a charity walk for cancer. Thank you for telling us!
Wonderful to know you'll participate, Sarah. Yes the band are a special breed and this cause is close to their hearts too.
Nice to see you here :)
Thank you Adelle. Will you be participating? I've been reading here on and off and would love to meet some of you. Nothing has inspired me to take part until I saw this announcement. Like I said, it just warms my heart.
These guys always continue to make me proud. Now, if I could just figure out how to make a donation from way over here.....

What you have to do is sponsor the great walk for banyule and your can leave a personal message to dedicate it to one of the walkers. Unless they change it today.
Thanks Soph....I'll do that.
From what we understand is that the individual sponsors are for the actual walk to beijing so as anita said, we can sponsor the walk to banyule for the boys. We are waiting for more info from them and will let you all know of any changes.
welcome sarah. so great to see you here and fantastic to read you will be participating.
Lana and I are proud to announce that we will also be participating in the walk for an amazing cause.
Yes we've been general with the banner info so anyone can choose who they sponsor. It can be altered if a sponsor link goes up.
no worries adelle. if there are any changes to the sponsor link, we'll let you know...we're just waiting to hear back from them.
Its my understanding that a link may in fact be in the works, so please wait on donating for at least a few hours.
This is brilliant!!! And how gorgeous is that photo!?
I'm sure we can all sponsor the boys in a big big way!
Awesome work and for a terrific cause.
Exactly, I can wait to make my sponsor donation!! Let's make the boys rake it in next week for this great cause.

That's Awesome
Such a great pic of them
Sooooo excited about this!
I hope they do something like this in Perth....I'd love to take part!
I spent some time reading tonight about this charity. I wanted to share something that Olivia wrote, because it reminded me about how real this is to the survivors taking part in this event, and how important raising money for cancer research really is. This is an exerpt from the great walk diary:
At the team meeting tonight Professor, Jonathon Cebon, who works in Oncology at the Austin Hospital for the Ludwig Institute, outlined how close his team may be to developing a cancer vaccine. Our group was hanging on his every word; everyone understood what is at stake with our mission to build the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness centre. Everyone understood our mission really is to change the way cancer is treated around the world. To hear that we may be on the verge of a cancer vaccine … ,a cure for cancer, left the group awestruck and inspired and ready to trudge another day regardless of the weather
There's so much to read and take in on that link. I particularly liked reading as to the entrants reasons for wanting to join the walk and it really really hits home how many people this disease effects. You hear about it but reading it really makes you think and just want to do everything you can to help.
This centre is going to be such a wonderful and beautiful addition to the world.
Thanks for sharing that Kelley. I've been reading up on the website as well and have been reading their profiles. Even though I don't have any family members who have been through or going through BC, I do have a friend my age that I used to work with who is a BC survivor. She had a double mastectomy (sp?) and recently had surgery for 'breast implants' so to speak. She amazes me with her strength as she has a family history of BC. Her Aunty passed away from it when she was my friends age and I'm so amazed at her courage, strength and optimism. *ok I'm getting emotional now so I'll stop there.
Pity I can't make it down there. It'd be great to participate for such a worthy cause!

I have been touched by cancer within my family several times. I lost my grandfather to cancer which started in his kidney and spread EVERYWHERE. Watching someone I loved so much slowly dwindle away was one of the hardest things I have ever done.
As for breast cancer, Scott's grandmother had to have a mastectomy, but luckily they got it all and she lived several more full, happy years. She was extremely large breasted and had to have reconstructive surgery to maintain her balance. She was such a trooper and had such a positive attitude. I miss her humor tremendously since her death last year.
And, of course, as a nurse on a med/surg unit for 8 years, I took care of MANY post mastectomy patients. I think one of the biggest and most difficult issues regarding this is body image after loosing one or both breasts. I have seen in take several days for some women to bring themselves to even look at their incisions. Now, with insurance companies pushing patients out the door sooner than they are physically or mentally ready, these women are trying to deal with all of this at home, alone. Please, if you know someone going through this, don't avoid them because it feels awkward and you don't know what to say because this is the time your friend needs you the most!!!
I felt honored to support the Juke boys and to be able to make a donation to this great cause!!! :)

Thank you, Adelle. When I have a second today, I'm going to add it to MySpace and my website.

Thanks for the link guys. I have had two very good friends battle with breast cancer. One has had her mum and sister pass away from it and is now 5 years free and the other had a lump removed at 16. It can hit anyone, so if you have a couple of dollars to spare, sponsoring our boys would be worth it.
JK keep amazing me with how much they give to everyone, there time, love and lots of cuddles. No wonder we all love them so much. I really wish I could be there with them on the day but I will be thinking of them.

Our names are Aimee and Rania and we wanted to send a HUGE thanks to Juke Kartel and their awesome fans. Our year 9 project was to choose a local community issue that we felt passionate about. We chose the Olivia Newton-John Wellness Centre at the Austin Hospital. This centre will treat and support people with all types of cancer. We chose to have a walk as Olivia had just completed the Great Walk in Beijing. We were disappointed she did not receive more support. Myself and Rania then approached the fundraising team at the Austin, and they decided to back us. Its been great to have their support and experience. The next step was to contact our local council, to organize a permit to hold an event, and then we contacted the necessary services.
A friend told us how Juke Kartel support Breast cancer, so said we should contact them. The rest is history the guys decided to back us, so with their help and yours we are well on the way to revitalizing this worthwhile cause. It just goes to show anyone can make a difference. You can check out our website on: http://www.myspace.com/fight_against_cancer123
Aimee and Rania thank you so much for taking the time out to visit us. Your efforts are just incredible and you are a credit to your school, the community at large and the entire force of souls affected by cancer. Huge kudos to you both for all that you have organised.
We're honoured to be helping you, so many of us have been hit by cancer beit directly or indirectly and this cause is very dear to our hearts as are our boys Juke Kartel, those amazing men who don't hold back when it comes to helping people.
Please feel welcome here and visit again. Goodluck for a huge turn out on Sunday! :)
~Adelle
I thought maybe you were the Aimee who joined our forum. We are happy to help. From all around the world.
Thank you for inviting us to support such a fantastic event!
Welcome to the JKST Aimee and Rania. We hope that, with Juke Kartel's help, you are able to reach your fundraising goals. We're here to spread the word and our support. :)

Hi Aimee and Rania. You girls are really amazing. I am in awe of your passion for such a great cause and at such a young age you have really inspired me as I would never imagine any Year 9 students at my school back in the day doing an amazing thing like this. We are all very honoured to support a worthy cause. Thank you for coming in here and telling us your story. I look forward to the walk and, hopefully, I will be able to meet you both next week as it would be great to chat with you girls.

That's a great article!!! Those two young women are AMAZING and should be commended for their efforts. Most teenagers are more worried about the next album they will buy or where they are gonna party next weekend while these girls are truly trying to make a difference. Teenagers and adults alike should definitely take note!!!
Wonderful article and how fresh-faced and beautiful you girls are Aimee and Rania.
I'm happy to say I can participate. Look forward to seeing everyone on the day! :)
These boys never cease to make me so incredibly proud to be a JK fan and ST member. They are such kind souls. Just this past month, a close-knit online group I belong to online has lost 2 members to cancer (1 just today :*[). My aunt is a breast-cancer survivor. Hey sweet ladies!!!
Just a little update.....
Well, we've started writing again seeing as we're just waiting for the release of Nowhere Left To Hide....which seems like forever, but my view is that you get one chance at a first album and it has to be done right!! And it will, and it will do very well......
The new songs we're writing are interesting....very head boppy and rock........with amazing vocals...haha
What else is happening?? Well, i live with Tommy, and he does nothing round the house, i'm constantly picking up after him, but thats what you get for single child syndrome....
It's cold here in Melbourne, but i've had some voluntary warmth lately which has been good....
I spoke at a careeer expo today discussing the music industry and stuff....was good fun..
Tomoz is the Cancer walk....i have my neice and sis in law coming, and mum...dad may come but cos of his fame he gets a bit nervous about all the attention he gets...but will see......
Anyhow, im off to the gym.....see some of you tomoz....to everyone in the USA.....see you SOON!!!!!!!!
Love you
xxxxxx
Hey Toby,
Thanks for the update. Great that you guys are busy writing more stuff. We are waiting and will continue waiting for the album release. We're not going anywhere.
Lol...does not surprise me that Tommy does nothing around the house...I can picture you being the perfect housewife, in the kitchen cooking for him with your brand new kitchenware ;) Haha.
I'm really looking forward to the walk tomorrow. So awesome that your neice and family are joining in...poor dad must be overwhelmed with all the attention. lol.
Have a great day Toby.
Love you right back.
-xox-
Hi Toby. I'm glad you've taken the time to get everything done right. More than anything we want your success too....getting the album will be the total cream on top of it all.
Awesome that you spoke at a career expo, I think you'd have some amazing knowledge to share. Your song writing is beautiful and meaningful.
Can't wait for the walk tomoz tho I'm terribly stiff from a practise run yesterday haha
Love you

Have a great day at the Cancer walk. We'll all be thinking of you. You guys are beautiful souls for being part of it. (We already know that, but really, truly, this horrible disease touches all of us in many ways.)
Thanks for the update too, we're all looking forward to it and in the US can't wait to get back to working shows, and seeing you guys back up there on that stage where you BELONG, sharing your talent. :)
What else is happening?? Well, i live with Tommy, and he does nothing round the house, i'm constantly picking up after him, but thats what you get for single child syndrome....
Hahaha. This must be TOCS only (Tommy Only Child Syndrome)... because I'm an only child and own so many cleaning products it's probably a biohazard. ;) (*coughahemandthisiswhyI'mstillsinglecoughahem*)
Love back atcha!

Well, we've started writing again seeing as we're just waiting for the release of Nowhere Left To Hide....which seems like forever, but my view is that you get one chance at a first album and it has to be done right!! And it will, and it will do very well......

Best wishes to all participating in the walk.. Hope it is a perfect day
Thanks for stopping by GORGEOUS ONE!!! It just amazes me how you keep giving and giving. There seems to be no end to your kindness and I am so proud to call myself a severely obsessed stalker fan!!!
I too have an only child and he has been exhibiting signs of Only Child Syndrome since day 1. :uhoh: I swear to God if I have to pick up one more hanger, cup, or pop can, my head is gonna explode. :madd: Then again, I am so lucky to have the amazing child I do, so I'll quit bitching now.
I love that you and the boys are writing and bopping http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd293/MrsRoryWeasley/Other/Smilies/Millan%20Smilies/49lpmxx.gif. In the end, that means new goodies for us sometime in the future. Just woke up...well Nicky woke me up...got my trackies on, beanie and scarf ready...and maybe an umbrella (I haven't ventured outside yet but I'm sure it's very cold and it looks like rain...lol). In a couple of hours, I'll be at the parklands ready for the walk.
I'm looking forward to the walk...rain or shine...it's going to be great. Just getting Nicky ready to drop him off at his grandparents and then we'll be heading to the parklands. Will be back later on in the day to let you all know how it went.
Chat to you chickies later.

Great of you girls & the boys to do the walk... Hair frizz & all
Very sad news about Jane McGrath.....
That's very sad news about Jane McGrath.
I've put photos up on our page from the walk.
As I said, it was rainy and drizzly with mud and puddles everywhere but it was fantastic. Aimee & Rania did an amazing job organising this event.
Umbrellas everywhere "I do not hold umbrellas, people hold it for me"....hahaha....yep that's what I said to Lana. I gave my umbrella to Harvey and walked with my hoodie. You can see in the pics how our hair is so lovely at the beginning and frizzy near the end. lol.
4km may sound like it's far...well to me it does...but it didn't take long to do the walk. The surrounding of the parklands were beautiful and it was a great feeling doing this walk knowing that I was helping, in the smallest way, raise awareness and money for a worthy cause.
It was great to meet Rania and Aimee as well as a few familiar faces (Muriel and her husband and her family), they welcomed us warmly "Ah here are the Jugs for Juke girls" which, at first, we freaked out that they knew us...lol...but we had a great time. The event was a success and, again, congratulations to Aimee & Rania. You girls should be extremely proud of yourselves...I would imagine your parents are.
The boys were great sports. Happily posing for photos and happily signing tops (and looking pretty good in trackies. lol). It was great seeing them venture out to the north-eastern suburbs and participate in a great event for a school project. Well Done....to the boys...to the girls...and to the walkers and volunteers and furry friends.
So sad for Jane McGrath.
Sounds like there was a good turn out for the event. Well done everyone for braving the crappy weather!!

Very sad to hear about Jane
Well done to everyone who walked :)
I was so saddened to hear of Janes passing....my heart goes out to Glen.
terrible about jane...
one of the ladies selling the tops today told me that her sister was just diagnosed with breast cancer and was having her breast removed next week...
two weeks ago, she didnt even know.
Breast checks are soo important.. and makes the walk and the work for awareness we are doing all the more worthwhile (im not sure i want to use that word.. but it fits)...
mark the pics are on the jugs myspace page

We truly appreciate it; and it is great to see there are people out there that really want to make a difference.
It was wonderful meeting Paris and Lana today (amazing people)!
We will let you know if we are going to hold another event (both bands Skarlet Blue and Juke Kartel were pumped to come to another event) awesome guys!
Anyway,

Our pleasure Aimee...if you hold another event, I will defintiely be there. This day has been a real inspiration. You girls rock. -xox-

Aww lovely Adelle
It looks like the event had a great turn out. Adelle, thank you for sharing your pics with us. Even with the gloomy weather, the area looks beautiful.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k309/ladyevs/banyule/Banyule3.jpg
Adelle - do I spot a shirt made by a certain someone?? :biglaugh:
It was lovely Tina. Even the rain, which wasn't very heavy, didn't dampen the enthusiasm. People were in great spirits.
Todd wasn't able to attend due to an injury...not sure on the details tho.
Aussie Pig, huh? Nice shirt on Toby. :flirt: I'm glad the walk was successful and the focus of the walk remained on the matter at hand, the race to find a cure for cancer. All cancer. I'm glad this turned out to be such a humble and professional event. I'm glad I made my donations. And thank you for your pictures, Adelle.
I think this walk was important to all of us. I donated money for both my mother and father, both of whom I lost to cancer. I've been feeling quite sad myself all day, and wish I could have walked in such an important event.
Thank you girls. I think we all bear a pain and heartache where this disease is concerned. It's terrible! Imagine the world when they find a cure!
Kelley I would have proudly walked with you today, even with the Aussie Pig there distracting us lol
That would have been a great day Adellle...walking with you in such a pretty place. I miss them so much. And I know how important today was to you and your family. xxxx

I am so glad that the day was a success, rain and all.. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost someone to cancer or has someone battling it right now. This is an awful disease and it is things like this that will help find a cure so that others will not suffer.
I love you all and send big hugs to everyone..
Adelle- first thing I noticed of your pics was the Aussie Pig shirt... :)
If you read my post before, sorry I deleted it but it didn't clarify how important this day was to me.
Some of you know that my dad is very sick with cancer. He's battling it as I type and it's a very aggressive one. This walk was a chance for me to feel I was actually doing something to help rather than sit home feeling helpless.
Aimee and Rania I truly commend you for organising this walk and thank you.
Adelle, I'm glad this walk helped you a bit personally. I wish we could have all been there to walk with you. Whenever my family does the Susan G Komen walk, I usually end up crying through the whole walk because it is so emotional. My husband and I both lost our mom's to cancer so this is very close to our hearts.
And thanks Adelle for the pictures. I just love the guys for their hearts!
Big hugs to you girls
I lost my grandfather to cancer a few years ago.. It gave him alot of other problems as well, really sad :(
I hope Todd is ok
The pics look great!

Hey girls.
Just want to drop this off here. Not sure if you all saw but there's an article on the Herald Sun website about the walk that the paper didn't end up publishing. The girls have asked that we leave a comment to show our support. Here's the girls message:
If you can add a comment to Cheryl Critchley's blog about "Teenagers can do good things" It would be great to get support for that article seeing the Herald Sun didn't run the story. It was great of the guys to travel across for the photoshoot;
http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/parenttrap/index.php/heraldsun/comments/teenagers_can_do_good_things/
Thanks;

Adelle, love your photos! Big, big hugs to you. I'm so glad you go to do this walk. All the best thoughts, wishes, vibes out to your dad and your family. Love you.
Paris/Lana/Shazz, would you be so awesome as to post the photos over on J4J MySpace over here as well in this thread for anyone visiting here who might not have MySpace, or who may be trying to view from work and have MySpace blocked, etc. (Becoming a problem with some corporations.) If you're busy I totally understand, just let me know if it would be okay to grab them from over there, I can throw them into a photobucket or something and post them here with your photo credit. Just want to make sure as many people as possible who want to see them are able to. Thanks babes! :)
I am so pleased the day was a great success (despite the weather) Thanks for sharing the pics.
I was sad to hear that Jane McGrath lost her battle with Breast Cancer, My Heart goes out to Glenn and her kids! They showed and old interview on 60 Minutes last night, she was so brave and positive!
Bunnings (were I work) recently held a Team Member fundraiser for the "McGrath Foundation" were we sold Pink Cup Cakes etc to team members and had one of our sausage sizzle's. I beleive our store raised about $1000 in total.

Girls, I just want to say that I think the ST did an amazing job on this charity drive, in a very short period of time. From the moment Tina announced that the boys would be participating, the ST went to work to make sure donations came in and that it was a success. Adelle's banner was gorgeous, as usual, and everyone that donated, walked, or even posted the banner around other sites to draw in donations deserves a huge pat on the back. It is great that the ST can work with the band to improve the lives of others. AWESOME JOB!!!!! :thumb:
