I can tell you the band are very happy how the night went.
Toby's voice was ridic, the crowd were very receptive....new fans and the two new songs were awesome!
This was a productive show for JK :)

Hello everyone,
Okay, I'm downloading some pics from the Hotel Cafe show. They are not as good as I would have liked, they didn't allow us to use flash.

I almost didn't make it to the show since I was starting to feel a bit sick on Monday, but I knew that I needed to be there since they haven't been playing as many shows as I had anticipated. Hubby was scheduled to work a graveyard shift, but was able to take a vacation day off so that we could make it to the show.

We got there a little after 8 pm and saw a group of acapella guys from Africa perform. They had a pretty good following. Saw Toby and Dale watching them from the back of the room. After their performance, hubby and I were lucky enough to grab a table, which was quite a conquest for us since they only had 6 tables total at the front of the stage. We sat down and I quickly recognized Morgan Freeman sitting at a table and eating. (Got the confirmation from Lucy, Dale's wife, that it was actually him. :) Thanks Lucy! Lucy and her friend sat at a table next to us and she told me that Clint Eastwood was also in the crowd. I didn't get a chance to see him. We saw a few familiar faces in the crowd. The guys played a great set including 2 new songs that they have written. They were great as usual and the new songs sounded brilliant! It's so great that their songs never sound alike but are still true to the JK "sound". I can't wait for all of you to hear it. Of course, I wish I had the lyrics to be able to enjoy the song in the manner it was meant to be heard.

The guys pulled a great crowd for such a tiny venue. I tried to pass out some cards after their performance, but quite honestly, I think 99% of the crowd already knew JK and was there specifically for them. Almost everyone that I handed cards out to already knew them. So, I didn't really do much after the show. We saw the guys and had a quick chat with each one. We met a couple of their friends and left for home.

On our way home, we almost got into a huge accident. We were driving on the carpool lane when a car had spun out. The car stalled facing the wrong direction on the carpool lane. We saw a light coming towards us and didn't realize it was a stalled car until the last minute. Thank goodness, there was no car to our right and we were able to swerve off to the next lane and avoid a collision. The angels were definitely looking out for us on that night.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling on...I'm still a bit out of it from the medication I've been taking. If this is all complete nonsense to you, well I blame it on being sick. :)

I absolutely LOVE "Anybody Out There"!!!!! This song is going to be a major hit!!! The second song is "Running-a-ground"???? Both are awesome songs!!!

Do you have 'Car Pool" lanes at that hour? Our Freeways (Melbourne's Eastern F'way anyway) only have that at Peak hours, (am into the city, and Pm, out of the city)

I guess we don't have the traffic that LA has. We have ONE tolled F'way in Melboure (Eastlink) we use one toll point when going to the city (Melbourne, 30km from me). We could avoid the toll point, but it takes 15 minutes off our Travel time. And as we only use it once a month or so, it it well worth the $2.50!
